Getting started

Where do I start?

Home is the magazine: featured looks, events, concepts and styles. Browse Styles, Concepts and Looks, and press Try on on anything to see it on your own hand.

Create (the + on phones) opens Generate, Live try-on, New concept and New style.

Is there a tour?

Yes, three short ones. The generator, the concept editor and the style editor each show a guided tour the first time you open them from Create. Skip it any time, and replay it with ? in the generator or the editor.

Do I need an account?

Not to browse. Your first save, generation, style or concept starts a private account in this browser, with nothing to fill in.

Sign in with Google, Microsoft or a code sent to your email to keep your work on every device and to publish. Everything you made in this browser comes with you.

Styles

What is a style?

One nail design: a base colour, a pattern, art, an effect and a finish. Every style has a reference, handle@slug (official ones are onmynails@slug). Copy it from the style’s page and paste it into any style search.

How do I make a style?

Create, then New style. Set Base, Pattern, Art, Effect and Finish, and a suggested shape. The 3D hand wears it as you go. Save gives it a name; a new style is private until you publish it.

Can I use my own art?

Yes. In Art, choose Upload (JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC). Use art you own or may use. Your art becomes public only inside a style you publish, after its check.

What are AI styles?

In the style editor’s AI tab, describe a style or add a reference photo, and Generate style designs it in about half a minute. The result opens in the Manual tab, ready to change and save. You can leave the page; we tell you when it is ready. AI styles are part of Plus. Your prompt and reference photo go to the AI style provider the tab names; never a hand photo.

If I edit a style, what changes?

Everywhere it is used. A style has no versions, so your concepts, and other people’s concepts that use your public style, show the change. An edit to a public style shows once it passes the check.

Concepts and the 3D hand

What is a concept?

Five nails, each with a style, and one shape for the whole hand. Create, then New concept, designs one on the 3D hand.

How do I put a style on a nail?

Tap a nail on the hand or on the nail rail, then Choose style. Pick from Saved, Mine, Official or Community, or search by name, tag or reference. The picker stays open for the next nail. Shift-click or long-press selects several nails; Apply to all puts one style on every nail.

What are Classic, Elegance and Details?
  • Classic: fingers loosely curled, nails toward you. Covers use this view.
  • Elegance: the hand raised, fingers long and slightly spread.
  • Details: fingertips gathered, nails close for detail work.

Views, left or right hand and skin tone are previews only. They are never saved with a style or a concept.

How do I move around the hand?

Tap a nail and the camera flies to it. Drag to turn the hand, scroll or pinch to zoom, and Whole hand to go back. Every action also works without the 3D hand, through the nail rail and the pickers.

Which keyboard shortcuts are there?
1–5Go to a nail, thumb to pinky
← →Previous or next nail
0Whole hand
AApply the selected style to all nails
VNext view
Z / Shift+ZUndo, redo
RReset view
SSave

The editors list them under ?.

Generate and live try-on

How do I try a set on my hand?

Press Try on on any style, concept or look, or open Generate. Pick a concept or a single style, a shape, and a photo of your hand, then Generate. The result appears in about a second and is saved to Studio, Generations.

What makes a good photo?

The back of your hand, all five nails in view, in daylight. Bare nails or a light polish draw best. Recent hands keeps your last photos, so you can try the next set without a new one.

It says “No nails found”. Why?

We could not find a hand or its nails in that photo. Nothing was counted. Try a brighter photo with all five nails in view, or the live camera.

How does live try-on work?

Open Live try-on and hold your hand up, nails toward the camera. The set follows your nails. Swipe or press ← and → to change concepts; Shape, Mirror and Snapshot are at hand. A snapshot is saved as a generation.

Why is live try-on not available?

It needs a camera, WebGL2 and enough speed to keep up. When the browser or device cannot, use a photo instead: it gives the same result.

Why is the first try slower?

The first time, your browser downloads the files it needs to find and draw nails, about 12 MB. After that they are kept on your device.

What changes on your photo

What does Generate change?

Only your nails.

  • Natural keeps your own nail shape and length and changes the surface.
  • A shape preset (Short square, Short round, Squoval, Oval, Almond, Long almond, Coffin, Long square, Stiletto) also sets the shape and length.

Your skin, your hand and your pose never change.

Will a real manicure look the same?

It is a preview, drawn in your photo’s own light. Real polish, light and application vary, so take it as the idea of the set, not a promise.

Is it free?

What does a free account get?
  • Browse and search everything, and try any official or community style and concept.
  • Save styles, concepts and looks without limit, and make collections.
  • 5 custom styles and 3 concepts of your own, new or remixed.
  • 20 generations and 5 minutes of live try-on a day.
  • Publishing (signed in) and badges.

The daily counts reset at midnight in your time zone. Styles and concepts are totals: delete one to free its place. A photo with no nails found or a save that failed counts nothing.

What does Plus add?
  • AI styles.
  • Unlimited custom styles and concepts.
  • Unlimited generations and live try-on.

Plus is weekly, monthly or yearly. You meet it when you reach a limit or try an AI style, or any time in Settings, Plan.

How do I cancel Plus?

In Settings, Plan, Manage billing. Plus runs to the end of the period you paid for. When it ends, everything you made stays and can still be edited, published or deleted.

Publishing and review

How do I publish?

Sign in first. On a generation, Publish as a look: crop to your hand, then see exactly what becomes public (the image, its concept and any private styles in it). Styles and concepts have Publish on their page and in the editor.

Your original photo is never published, only the crop of the result.

What does “In review” mean?

Everything published is checked before anyone else sees it. Until then it shows In review, to you only. Most items pass in moments; some wait for a person on our team.

What does “Removed” mean?

It did not pass the check, a review or a report, so only you see it, marked Removed. A removed style disappears from the concepts that use it. If you think it is a mistake, write to support. See the community guidelines.

How do I take something down?

Unpublish on its page. It leaves lists, search and its public page. Concepts other people built with your style keep working.

Remix and credit

What is remix?

Remix on a style or a concept opens a copy in the editor, credited “Remixed from title by @handle”. Change what you like and save it; it counts as one of your custom styles or concepts. The credit stays on its page and the source shows how often it was remixed.

Someone copied my set without credit.

Use Report on their item and choose “Copied without credit”. Our team reviews it.

Collections and links

How do collections work?

Save puts anything in Saved with one tap. Add to collection from the toast, or from Save to a collection. A collection can mix styles, concepts and looks; your own generations in it are visible only to you.

How do I share a collection?

Share asks you to make it public (signed in) and lists any private items of yours that will be published and checked. Then send the link. If you make it private or delete it, the link stops working.

Badges

What are badges?

Collectible marks on your profile for what you do: events you take part in, milestones such as your first look or your work being remixed, and a few special ones. They are for show: a badge never unlocks a feature, and none is given for paying. Pin up to six on your profile. They show once you are signed in.

How do I earn an event badge?

Each event’s page lists its badges and how to earn them, and keeps them as an archive after it ends.

Privacy of photos and the camera

Who sees my hand photos?

Only you. Your nails are found and drawn in your browser. Your photos are stored privately, never made public and never sent to a third party. Location data is removed before upload.

Does the camera video leave my device?

No. Live try-on draws on your device. The video is never uploaded or stored; only a snapshot you take is saved.

What happens to an AI style’s prompt and photo?

They go to the AI style provider to make the style, and are never public. More in the privacy policy.

Deleting things and your account

How do I delete a generation, style or concept?

Delete it in Studio or on its page. If your own concepts use a style you delete, those nails show “Style deleted” until you pick another. A public style or concept that other people’s concepts use stays for them, shown by anon, and leaves lists and search.

How do I delete my account?

Settings, Delete account. Delete your account explains what it removes.
